Whangamata located on the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula, and is the ideal gateway for Coromandel beaches and National Parks only 1½ to 2 hours drive fm Auckland.

Whangamata has a very beautiful and safe surf beach with a harbour and estuary suitable for snorkeling, canoeing, water-skiing and safe swimming for small children. 

For boaties the harbour features an excellent boat ramp and the harbour entrance is sheltered and safe. There are fishing trips, boat cruises, bush walks, craft trails, a movie theatre, video hire, a skating bowl, mini golf, children’s playgrounds, tennis courts and two golf courses.
